Nelson’s Woodrat

Central America

Neotoma nelsoni

This species is threatened by extensive conversion to agriculture, which may have already contributed to its decline and the isolation of its populations. Invasive, exotic species may also pose a threat.

Nelson's woodrat (Neotoma nelsoni) is a species of rodent in the family Cricetidae. It is endemic to Mexico, where it is known only from the eastern slopes of the volcanoes Orizaba and Cofre de Perote.
