It has small, fragmented population to begin with. Conversion of its forest habitat into agricultural lands is a major factor for its rapidly dwindling numbers.
The Sinú Parakeet exclusively lives in Northern Colombia and is considered as one of the ’25 most wanted lost species’ of the Global Wildlife Conservation.
There is limited information about its life cycle and behaviour although it has a multi-coloured body. The dark red belly patch is contrasted by its blue primaries and grey breast while its feathers are edged with buff which gives a scalloped look.
